Dressage training through FEI in the north Dallas area

 Located on 40 scenic acres in Aubrey, Texas, Southern Comfort Farm offers the highest level of care for your horse with:

  • Customized feeding programs;

  • Individual turnout 7-days per week in sandy-loam grass paddocks;

  • 12’ x 12’ stalls with dust-free pine shavings, heat lamps, fans, fly system, automatic waterers and corner feeders;

  • Attached enclosed riding arena with textile footing, kickboards, mirrors, sound system, fans and lighting;

  • Tack rooms with trunks, saddle and bridle racks for each horse;

  • Three indoor hot and cold water wash racks and five grooming stalls with lights, heaters and fans;

  • Full kitchen with front-load washer and dryer, viewing lounge overlooking indoor arena with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a large-screen television;

  • Outdoor 20 x 60 meter dressage arena for those beautiful Texas days, a separate lunging pen and trails around the property.

 Training

We offer training for all levels with Gail Abele of Gail Abele Dressage and Janice Mauren of Cavalli Dressage. Gail has many years of competition successes and is a USDF bronze and silver medalist. She continues her education by studying with many top notch clinicians. She has a very straight forward approach to training and teaching by imparting the importance of the basics of the classical methods and utilizing her thorough understanding of the biomechanics of both horse and rider. She and many of her students have competed attaining high scores, awards and recognition both locally, regionally and nationally.

Janice is a USDF bronze and silver medalist with a successful show history through FEI. She continues to work with top clinicians and focuses on developing strong fundamentals to improve each horses’ rideability and athletic abilities. By understanding and working with the unique aspects of each horse and rider, both physically and mentally, her goal is to bring out their best and successfully move them up the levels.
